Motionless

The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone. "

This is so appropriate. Glad you had time to visit with your friend. My hubbys sister visited this weekend from Indiana and it was so nice to see her and her son after 3 years. This seems to be the year for us to visit with relatives as we are getting older and who knows what time will bring to us. Hugs, LJ

I do so love your pictures! All those quaint little cottages and gardens and cups of tea. The picture of the chair by the fireplace in your side pics could almost be my living room. Isn't it strange that so much of that is what I try to create, yet I've never lived in England.

I hope our going down from the top will be a pleasant journey. I like the stately looking white blooms.
